Planned relocation to Veenendaal

De Beer Group Nederland acquired a building in Veenendaal at the end of 2020. After a comprehensive renovation, all Dutch activities will move to these premises in the second half of 2021.

With more than 50% in the last 3 years, De Beer has experienced a strong growth. The current premises in Barneveld have therefore become too small. There was no possibility to expand on our own site, so another location became necessary.

During the search for a suitable location, the eye fell on the old head office of Halfords on the Nijverkamp industrial park. After Halfords went bankrupt at the end of 2014, the building had been rented out to various parties, but was falling into a bit of decay. However, the size of around 10,000 m2 was a good fit with De Beer’s needs and ambitions.

Sustainability

In the coming months, we will carry out a thorough renovation, during which the facade, the offices and the roof will be completely replaced. We are also working hard on sustainability: the current building has an energy label of F and after the renovation this will be brought up to A. Solar panels will also be installed on the roof, which will be able to generate the entire electricity demand.

In-house social workshop

A special place in the new building is reserved for our in-house social workshop. The old showroom of around 300 m2 and part of the warehouse of 300 m2 will accommodate around 40 people with a distance to the labour market. In Barneveld, we already offer around 30 jobs for this purpose, but in Veenendaal this will be given a much more prominent place.

New factory in Germany

At the same time as the relocation plans in the Netherlands, De Beer Group is also working on its future in Germany. In Linsengericht, where the two De Beer Breidenbach facilities are located, construction of a state-of-the-art injection moulding factory of almost 9,000 m2 will begin in July. A 23,000 m2 plot of land was purchased for this purpose in November 2020. According to the planning, we will be able to put this factory into operation at the end of 2022.
